What is Lyrinel?
Lyrinel is a brand of oxybutynin, which is a medicine that relaxes an overactive bladder and reduces the need to urinate.
What is Lyrinel used for?
The medicine is used for urinary incontinence, urgency and frequency in people with unstable bladder conditions. It also treats dedwetting (nocturnal enuresis) associated with an overactive bladder in children aged five years and over.
How Lyrinel work?
It works by relaxing the involuntary muscle that is found in the wall of the bladder. By relaxing the detrusor muscle, oxybutynin reduces unstable, involuntary contractions of the bladder and thereby increases the capacity of the bladder to hold urine.
How to consume Lyrinel?
Lyrinel XL tablets should be taken once a day, at the same time each day. The tablets should be swallowed whole with a drink and not broken, crushed or chewed. They can be taken either with or without food.
What should be known before taking Lyrinel?
Lyrinel may cause drowsiness, dizziness and blurred vision. If affected do not drive or operate machinery. The membrane of Lyrinel XL tablets may pass through the gut unchanged and be visible in the stools. This is normal, and does not affect the action of the medicine.
