What is Aricept?
Aricept is used to treat mild, moderate and severe Alzheimer's disease, also called dementia of the Alzheimer's type.
How does Aricept work?
Aricept is an oral medication taken once daily to restrict the breakdown of acetylcholine, which is a brain chemical helping nerve cells communicate with one another. It is a class of drugs called cholinesterase inhibitors.
How to take Aricept?
Follow all directions given to you by your doctor and pharmacist carefully.
How much to take Aricept?
The usual starting dose for Aricept is one 5 mg tablet each day. After 1-month, doctor shall assess response and might increase dosage to one Aricept 10 mg tablet each day.
When to consume Aricept?
Take medicine every night just before you go to bed. Taking it at the same time each day shall have the best effect. It will also help you remember when to take it.
What things are to be avoided while consuming Aricept?
Do not take this medicine to treat any other complaints unless your doctor says to. Do not give this medicine to anyone else, even if they have the same condition as you. Do not stop taking your medicine or change the dosage without checking with your doctor.
