What is Reminyl used for?
Reminyl is used to treat mild to moderate dementia (memory loss and mental changes) that is a sign of Alzheimer's disease. The medicine does not cure Alzheimer's disease, and it shall not stop the disease from getting worse. However, it can improve the thinking ability in some patients with Alzheimer's disease.
What is Alzheimer's disease?
In Alzheimer's disease, many chemical changes occur in the brain. One of the earliest and biggest changes is that there is less of a chemical knwon as acetylcholine (ACh). ACh helps the brain to work properly. It slows the breakdown of ACh, so it can build up and have a greater effect. However, as Alzheimer's disease worse, there will be less and less amount of ACh, so Reminyl may not work well.
How to consume Reminyl?
Take Reminyl solution by mouth with morning and evening meals, unless otherwise directed by the doctor.
What happens if Reminyl is consumed in excess?
If overdose occur, call the poison control center or get medical care right away. Be ready to tell or show what was taken, how much, and when it happened.
How to store Reminyl?
Store at room temperature. Store in a dry place. Do not store in a bathroom. Keep all drugs in a safe place. Keep all drugs out of the reach of children and pets.
