What is Demadex?
Demadex is a loop diuretic (water pill) that helps in preventing the body from absorbing too much salt, allowing the salt to instead be passed in the urine.
What is Demadex used for?
Demadex treats fluid retention (edema) in people with congestive heart failure, liver disease, kidney disease, or kidney failure. This medication is also used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension).
How does Demadex work?
Demadex blocks the reabsorption back into the blood of sodium and water that has been filtered out of the blood in the kidneys.
What is the most important information about Demadex?
Avoid using Demadex in case of being allergic to sulfa drugs or if unable to urinate.
How should be Demadex taken?
If you have cirrhosis or other liver problems, doctor shall give first dose of the medicine in a hospital or clinic setting to quickly treat any serious side effects that occur.
What should be avoided while taking torsemide (Demadex)?
Avoid becoming overheated or dehydrated while exercise and while being in hot weather. Follow doctor's instructions about the type and amount of liquids one should drink. In some cases, drinking too much liquid might be just unsafe as not drinking enough.
