Active Ingredient: Zonisamide is an active ingredient in this medicine. It is a sulfonamide derivative that has an anticonvulsant property. The working of this drug is not known completely. This active drug appears to block sodium and calcium channels to stabilize neuronal membranes and suppress the neuronal hyper-synchronization. It shows an affinity for the gamma-aminobutyric acid /benzodiazepine receptor ionophore complex. This drug does not potentiate the synaptic activity of GABA.
