Description

Active Ingredient: The main active component of this medicine is Diltiazem, which is a benzothiazepine derivative with anti-hypertensive, antiarrhythmic properties. It blocks voltage-sensitive calcium channels in the blood vessels, by inhibiting the ion-control gating mechanisms, so as to prevent calcium levels increase by other revenues. Alternatively, it has been suggested that this agent also interferes with the release of calcium from the sarcoplasmic reticulum and inhibits the influx of extracellular calcium across both the myocardial and vascular smooth muscle cell membranes.

Indications: Diltiazem composed of medicine Cardizem is used to prevent chest pain. It may help to increase your ability to exercise and decrease how often you may get angina attacks. This medication is called a calcium channel blocker. It works by relaxing blood vessels in the body and heart and lowers the heart rate. Blood can flow more easily and your heart works less hard to pump blood.

Action Mechanism: Given medication belongs to a class of drugs called calcium channel blockers.  Cardizem works by relaxing the blood vessels in your heart and body. This reduces your blood pressure. It also lowers your heart rate and dilates your coronary arteries. This means that your heart doesn’t have to work as hard to pump blood throughout your body. These effects, combined with lowering your blood pressure, help to reduce your chest pain.

Dosages: This calcium channel blocker medication is available for oral consumption and in dosage as mentioned below:

• 30 mg:  It is to be consumed exactly as directed by the doctor, usually 3 times a day
• 60 mg: Take this medicine before meals and at bedtime as advised by the doctor, 3 times a day

Note: It is not advisable for pregnant or breastfeeding mothers.
