Active Ingredient: Vilazodone Hydrochloride is the main active ingredient in this medicine. It is a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor and a 5-HT-1A receptor partial agonist. This drug has antidepressant and anti-anxiety activities. This active ingredient inhibits the reuptake of serotonin from the synaptic cleft during stimulating the release of 5-HT into the synaptic cleft. It increases the concentration of 5-HT in the synaptic cleft and potentiates serotonergic neurotransmission in the central nervous system. This selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor and partial serotonin receptor agonist used in the treatment of major depressive disorders.
Indications: Vilazodone composed of medicine is indicated for the treatment of depression. It is an SSRI i.e. selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor and partial serotonin receptor agonist. It has no effect on norepinephrine or dopamine reuptake. Partial agonist of serotonergic 5-HT1A receptor whose activity may be altered in depression and anxiety.
