This process of binding interferes with peptidyl transferase activity that prevents the transfer of amino acids to the growing peptide chains and blocks peptide bond formation. It leads to blockage of bacterial protein synthesis and impedes bacterial cell proliferation.

Indications

It should be used only in those serious infections in which other drugs are ineffective or contraindicated. Chloromycetin capsules are indicated for the treatment of surface ocular infections caused by chloramphenicol-susceptible micro-organisms. This medicine can be used to treat infections caused by Staphylococcus aureus, and Streptococcus, including Streptococcus pneumoniae, Escherichia coli, Haemophilus influenzae, Klebsiella/Enterobacter species, Moraxella lucunata, and Neisseria species.

Action Mechanism

The antibiotic capsule is known for working by slowing down the growth of bacteria. It prevents these infectious bacteria from producing important proteins that they need to survive. The given medicine is effective against S. typhi, H. influenzae, E. coli, Neisseria species, Staphylococcus and Streptococcus species, Rickettsia, and lymphogranuloma-psittacosis group of organisms.
